Chief of Police, Springdale Borough PA

Springdale Borough is accepting applications for a full time working Chief of Police.  Springdale Borough is located in Allegheny County with a population of approximately 3,400.  Starting salary is competitive for the region and includes a full fringe benefit package. Applications can be obtained between 8:30 am-4 pm at the Springdale Borough Office, 325 School Street, Springdale, PA.  Application packets are due by July 5, 2022 at 4pm. Springdale Borough is an EOE.

CHIEF OF POLICE

Springdale Borough, PA, population approximately 3,400, seeks experienced police leaders as applicants to serve as the Borough’s Working Chief of Police.  Springdale Borough is located in northern Allegheny County, and Springdale Borough is approximately 1 square mile.

The Springdale Borough Police Department works closely with other municipalities surrounding Springdale Borough and Allegheny County and Westmoreland County law enforcement agencies.  In furtherance of its goal of providing a safe community, the Springdale Borough Police Department participates in regional law enforcement, as well.  

Springdale Borough is seeking an innovative and collaborative professional with proven managerial, strong interpersonal and customer service skills.  This is a position for a Working Chief of Police. Successful candidates must have an outgoing personality and be approachable and accessible to residents, visitors, business and government leaders, interested in and passionate about making a positive impact on Springdale Borough through effective management of a full service police department.  The Chief of Police must be open and available to all Police Department staff and Borough employees, welcoming partnerships with Borough government and with external stakeholders.  Candidates must be committed to training, professional development and community engagement.

As the chief executive of the Police Department, the Chief will manage its personnel, budget, programs and activities with an eye for continuous improvement to meet the needs and expectations of Springdale Borough and its highly engaged residents.  

The successful candidate must have a commitment to mentoring, training, staff development and involvement, while valuing employee input into decisions.  The Chief will have a high degree of visibility in the department and community.  

  Candidates must have Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) and Pennsylvania ACT 120 certifications.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, or be able to obtain one.

  • An equitable balance of administrative and operational law enforcement experience.

  • Excellent Communications Skills, with experience in public and media relations.

  • Must be a team and relationship builder.

  • Labor relations/Collective bargaining experience.

  • Must be a leader who can apply policies fairly and uniformly for all members of the Department.

  • The Chief of Police is expected to have excellent financial management skills and a clear understand of resource limitations.

  • The Chief of Police is expected to be a strategic thinker, anticipating issues or trends and must be open to new approaches and technologies while also thinking beyond the wall of the Police Department, understand the needs of the Borough as a whole and of the region’s public safety community.

  • Must be a United States citizen.

  • The Chief of Police Position is a Working Chief of Police, on rotating shifts.

  • Experience may be considered toward education.

The starting salary for the position will commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. Springdale Borough also offers an attractive benefits package.

No other payments can be made on this portal, just the water /sewage/trash payments.  We cannot accept payments for reconnection fees, occupancy fees, water deposit, etc., and any other services online. These must be paid in person at the Springdale Borough Office.

You can pay more than your billing amount and this amount will be applied to your account.  You can also make payments on this portal before your bill is due.

There is a convenience fee of 2.65% of your bill or $3.00 minimum fee per transaction charged by the payment service, not Springdale Borough. 

If your transaction was fraudulent you will be subject to a $35.00 back charge and a $25.00 door posting fee and your water utility will be shut off immediately.

Water Reconnection Fees must be paid in person at the Borough Office.
