Sources of air pollution in Allegheny County are required to obtain air quality permits for the operation of existing air pollution sources and for the installation of new air pollution sources or new air pollution control equipment. The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) issues these permits and is providing notice that a complete Installation Permit Application or Operating Permit Application has been received for one or more facilities which may be located in your municipality or a neighboring municipality.
The following information provides notification to municipalities of our intent to issue or modify an air quality permit. Once our intent to issue the permit is advertised, there is a 30-day public comment period. During this period, the permit and related documents will be available for public review and we will welcome comments from all interested parties. Comments must be received by the ACHD on or before 11 August, 2020.
We are providing this notice to you for your information. No action on your part is required. However, should you or any resident of the municipality wish to comment on a permit please email your comments to or mail them to Ms. JoAnn Truchan, Chief Engineer, Allegheny County Health Department, Air Quality Program, 301 39th Street - Building #7, Pittsburgh, PA 15201-1811.
